People often ask me what a “typical day” looks like when you run a little handmade business — so I thought I’d share!
First things first, I start with a big cup of tea. No crafting can happen without it! Then it’s usually a mix of planning orders, moulding clay, painting, or whatever project I’m working on that week. Some days I’ll be surrounded by colourful threads and fabrics, other days it’s packaging up parcels ready to head off to their new homes.
I like to put on some music or a good podcast while I work — it keeps me company while my hands are busy. I always laugh because by the end of the day my workspace looks like a rainbow has exploded… paint, clay, and ribbons everywhere! But that’s the fun of it.
Running Vicki Ann Makes isn’t just about the making though. There’s also lots of photographing, listing items online, and (now!) writing blog posts to share with you. It’s busy, but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Every time I see someone enjoying something I’ve made, it makes all the hard work worthwhile.
